Yuri Gavrilov is a field commander of Task Force Phoenix and a character in World War 3: The Series. In the novel, he is a professional pilot and later, it is revealed that he's Lev Raskov's cousin. In the sequel, World War 3: The Hit on The Innocent, it is revealed that he's also the leader of his own private army.
Biography[]
Early military career[]
He started out his military career as a GRU operative until 2020, where he retired and formed a task force of his own, Task Force Phoenix.
World War 3: Sinister Operations[]
During World War 3: Sinister Operations, Lev Raskov reveals that Yuri is his cousin and that he's dating a young Russian scientist named Tat'yana Lazarova, who has been kidnapped by the Red Hand and held alongside Adrianne McNamara and Gamila Yousef. He readily accepts the mission given to him by Korey Hogan to rescue Lazarova, but soon discovers TAC and begins to wonder if TAC is a branch of the Iron Hand. He later realizes this is false following an unexpected encounter with ex-celebrity and current TAC operative Tom Cruise.
He later suceeds in rescuing Lazarova and teams up with TAC to fight the Red Hand in an attempt to escape from the Swiss Alps, which cumilates into a gunfight between Gavrilov's men and Alejandro Rojas' thugs.
He is also seen participating in the Hunt for Alejandro Rojas, which takes place during the McNamara Hostage Situation.
World War 3: The Hit on The Innocent[]
Yuri is revealed to be the leader of his own army of PMCs (private military company), and he is best buddies with Alexi Bulganov, former Christian extremist terrorist turned private military company lieutenant. He is seen when Olivia Coonz and Elizabeth Anne Newman are traded and released to PMC custody, where he assists Olivia Coonz in clearing her name following a massacre of Russian civilians in a shopping mall, in which Olivia's assault team is implicated.
